The Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority (TNSLSA) has established a legal aid clinic for women, who, according to TNSLSA secretary Akbar Ali, are often unaware of their legal rights.

Inaugurating the clinic at the Women’s Indian Association in Chennai, Ali said “about 99% of women in India are subjected to harassment by men. Irrespective of their class, women are yet to lead a dignified life.”
The clinic, a joint venture between the TNSLSA and several women’s organizations, will offer legal aid, counselling and assistance on registering complaints in court, Chennai Online reported.
