Before joining Guantao, they had practised from 2024 at Hui Doe & Sum Law Firm, which they co-founded, with Sum serving as senior partner and Doe as founding partner.

From 1997, he served as a partner at DLA Piper, Eversheds Sutherland, Blank Rome and Troutman Sanders, which is now known as Troutman Pepper Locke following a series of mergers.

Sum is qualified to practise in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Australia and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. His practice covers litigation, arbitration, mediation and online dispute resolution. He has acted as both counsel and arbitrator in institutional arbitrations in Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Singapore, London and Paris, among other jurisdictions.

She focuses on capital markets, corporate finance, M&A, investment structuring and regulatory compliance, with specific experience in strategic cross-border M&A, joint ventures, private equity financing, IPOs and commercial compliance matters.
