Han Kun Law Offices has recruited Chu Weishu as a partner at its Shanghai office, strengthening its dispute resolution practice and her partner registration is underway.

Before joining Han Kun, Chu was a senior partner at China Commercial Law Firm’s Shanghai office. She previously spent eight years as a partner at the Shanghai branch of DeHeng Law Offices. Prior to that, she practised at Shanghai-based Kaizheng Law Firm.

Chu also spent seven years working at a procuratorate in Shanghai early in her career, where she handled various difficult, novel and complex criminal cases, including some that attracted public attention.

She focuses on criminal law, particularly defending and filing complaints in major and complicated criminal cases. Her practice covers crimes involving IP infringement, disruption of the financial administration, corruption and bribery and smuggling, as well as criminal risk prevention and control. Several cases she has handled have resulted in charges being dropped, decisions not to prosecute and acquittals.

“Chu will work closely with partners in the firm’s relevant practice areas, drawing on her experience and strengths in criminal law and corporate compliance to further strengthen collaboration across practices,” Han Kun said in a press release.
