Shihui Partners has hired antitrust and data compliance specialist Wang Zhining as a partner at its Shenzhen office, further strengthening the firm’s capabilities in these areas.

Before joining Shihui, Wang was a partner at China Commercial Law Firm from August 2024, working across its Shenzhen and Shanghai offices. He previously joined AnJie Law Firm as a Beijing-based partner in April 2023.

Wang has experience in both private practice and in-house roles. From September 2021 to April 2023, he served as senior legal counsel and head of antitrust compliance at Xiaomi. During his tenure, he established the company’s first antitrust compliance team and oversaw its work in China.

Before joining Xiaomi, Wang practised at T&D Associates from 2015.

His practice covers antitrust and unfair competition, corporate compliance, merger control filings, distressed asset acquisitions and restructurings, and privacy and data compliance.

Wang has acted as Chinese counsel to AMD on its acquisition of Xilinx, Sony on the sale of its battery business to Murata Manufacturing, and Merck on its acquisition of Versum Materials.

In data compliance, he regularly advises companies on establishing artificial intelligence compliance frameworks, assessing and structuring compliant cross-border data transfers, and addressing and improving data compliance ahead of public listings.
