APAA to have first Indian president-elect

Amarjit Singh, the managing partner of New Delhi-based IP boutique Amarjit Associates, has been nominated as president-elect of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) for 2021-2023.

Singh told India Business Law Journal that he is the first Indian to be nominated as president-elect in the history of the 51-year-old association. Subsequent to his term as president-elect, he will take over as the APAA president for 2023-2025 from Greg Munt, a principal patent attorney at Griffith Hack in Australia.

Singh was a member of the APAA’s advisory committee from 2012-2015, and senior vice president from 2015-2018, and from 2018-2021.

The APPA has more than 2,500 members from 21 recognised jurisdictions: Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
