Meru’s CCI complaint
Trilegal successfully represented Ola against allegations of anti-competitive agreements and alleged abuse of a dominant position, in contravention of section 3 and section 4 of the Competition Act, 2002. Meru filed four separate complaints with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) against Ola and Uber India.
The CCI said the facts and evidence presented had not led to the establishment of a prima facie case against Ola and Uber India, and it closed the case. Partner and national head of competition law practice Nisha Kaur Uberoi led the Trilegal team.
SABMiller shuts factory
J Sagar Associates (JSA) advised and assisted SABMiller India in the closure of its factory in Bengaluru, and also in the negotiation and sale of about 5 hectares of land near Bengaluru.

The property was purchased for ₹2.1 billion (US$32 million) by renewable energy company Brigade Infrastructure and Power.

Luthra & Luthra advised the book running lead manager, Spark Capital, and Neuland Laboratories on Neuland’s qualified institutional placement of 1.6 million equity shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, which aggregated to ₹1.2 billion (US$17 million).

TPG sells mega mart
AZB & Partners advised private equity firm TPG Capital Asia and Vishal Mega Mart on the sale of Vishal to global investment firm Partners Group and private equity firm Kedaara Capital. The deal involved the transfer of the entire equity share capital of Vishal, valued at over US$20 million.
AZB’s team comprised partners Darshika Kothari and Roxanne Anderson, senior associate Shivani Kabra, and associate Saloni Bhandari. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close later this year.
HSA in digital literacy plan
HSA Advocates advised Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society, an agency of the Chhattisgarh state government, on implementation of the Sanchar Kranti Yojana (revolutionary communication plan) to improve digital literacy in the state. HSA advised on structuring and running of the bid process. The firm was represented by founding partner Hemant Sahai and partner Rahul Arora.
Reliance Jio and Micromax emerged as the winners of the bid. Reliance Jio will improve network connectivity in rural areas of the state, while Micromax will provide 5 million handsets to the state’s residents.
