Dewey & LeBoeuf has entered into an association with Joyce Sze Ho Chan & Co in Hong Kong. Joyce Chan, principal of the Hong Kong firm, previously served as head of legal for AXA China Region Insurance.

Ingrid Zhu-Clark, chair of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s Asia practice, commented: “Our association with Joyce is a very welcome addition to our capabilities in Asia, allowing us to offer clients advice under Hong Kong law.”

The tie-up also boosts Dewey & LeBoeuf’s insurance practice in Asia.

As well as her time at AXA, Chan spent five years as general counsel and chief compliance officer at New York Life Insurance Worldwide. She also previously worked in the Hong Kong office of Deacons.

Dewey & LeBoeuf’s Beijing and Hong Kong offices have advised insurance clients such as AIA, Chubb and MetLife (including representing MetLife on its US$16.2 billion international acquisition of Alico, which was completed in November last year).
