Ranjeev Dubey, the managing partner of N South in Gurgaon, has published Legal Confidential: Adventures of an Indian Lawyer. The book, which was to hit Indian shops in the third week of November, tells Dubey’s story from when he joins the legal profession as a junior lawyer, motivated by a desire to help people gain access to justice. As he works diligently in the corridors of Delhi’s trial courts, he realizes the legal system is anything but fair and stumbles upon a murky world of corruption, sleaze, adultery, eloping couples and clients willing to pay for legal services “in kind”.

He works in litigation for 12 years until he is offered a position at a law firm. He believes he has finally arrived, but later discovers the world of corporate law is one of intense power play, destructive politicking and the merciless pursuit of revenue. Dubey portrays how he climbed the corporate ladder only to be ambushed by partners who were threatened by his success.
“This is my story through the legal labyrinth,” said Dubey. “I would like to think Legal Confidential is a thoroughly good read.”
