Former IPAB officer joins LexOrbis

LexOrbis has hired DPS Parmar, a former technical member (patents) of the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB), to head up its IPAB practice group.

Parmar joined the Patent Office in 1983 and served in various positions before becoming a technical member. He has contributed to the drafting of patent amendment legislation and patent rules since 1995 and also helped establish the international search authority and international preliminary examination authority at the Indian Patent Office. He was also head of the Intellectual Property Training Institute in Nagpur.

Parmar represented India in Patent Cooperation Treaty working group meetings at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and has attended fellowship programmes organized by the European Patent Office and Japanese Patent office in association with WIPO. He has delivered lectures on IP rights and taken part in debates and discussions organized by universities, technical institutes, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
