Dear Editor,
This is with reference to the December 2012/January 2013 issue of India Business Law Journal and in particular, the view of Mr Ajit Yadav and Mr Ashok Sharma on India’s dispute resolution system and the changing dynamics of in-house counsel, brilliantly captured by your editor Vandana Chatlani. Both gentlemen have very meticulously dealt with the issues posed to them on the subjects discussed.

The profile as well as the role of in-house legal counsel has undergone a major change and in-house legal departments are no longer considered as a service department but rather a value centre.
With regard to India’s dispute resolution system, a lot needs to be done to create awareness among interested parties to opt for institutionalized arbitration instead of ad hoc arbitration. Institutionalized arbitration is certainly a preferred option, but not used very frequently in India.
Once again full marks to Vandana for the chosen subject.
