On 9 February, legal process outsourcing company Legal Circle announced two senior appointments.
Kenneth Gunning has been appointed as vice president of operations, while Edward Turner has been appointed as the director of US operations.
Gunning, who will focus on Legal Circle’s document review operations, has had an extensive career in litigation.

Most recently, he spent three years performing and supervising document reviews at US law firms including Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom; Kirkland & Ellis; Shearman & Sterling; Weil Gotshal & Manges; Latham & Watkins; Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson; and Boies Schiller & Flexner.
Turner’s brief is to build Legal Circle’s client base in the US. He is a retired senior partner of Shearman & Sterling, where he focused on M&A, project finance and private equity transactions.
He was previously the managing partner of Shearman’s Hong Kong office, before which he practised in the firm’s New York and San Francisco offices.
Turner was also involved in leading Sherman & Sterling’s support of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law election protection programme for the US presidential election in November.
The CEO of Legal Circle, Soumitro Chatterjee, said the appointments are highly valuable and strategic given the LPO’s plans to increase its document review business with law firms and companies in the US.
He said clients’ confidence would receive extra support in the knowledge that US licensed attorneys were providing a further level of supervision and quality control to Legal Circle’s document review processes.
Legal Circle is a subsidiary of Indian law firm FoxMandal Little. Its main focus is to provide document review services to US and UK law firms using litigation-specific electronic discovery databases. It also performs IP-related services and legal research.
