Yoon & Yang has officially opened its new northern Seoul branch in Gangbuk on 1 September 2026, extending the South Korean law firm’s footprint beyond its Gangnam headquarters in southern Seoul.
“We wanted to bridge the physical gap with corporate clients in key central business district locations like Gwanghwamun, City Hall, Jongno and Euljiro,” Myung Soo Lee, senior managing partner at Yoon & Yang, told Asia Business Law Journal.
“The objective is to meet more frequently so we can proactively identify potential legal risks and offer preemptive counsel.”

Located at the Seoul Finance Centre, the Gangbuk office would operate without a separate branch head or managing partner to streamline decision making and maximise operational agility, Lee said.
“Senior partners from each practice area will directly manage client matters on location, delivering real-time guidance and high-level legal strategies,” said Lee.
Lee said the Gangbuk office would provide regular, tailored guidance across its core practice areas, ranging from finance, corporate, labour, tax and real estate to public audits, police investigations, high-stakes litigation, and competition and antitrust.
“Our location near the Government Complex Seoul further allows us to expand our legislative and public policy strategic counsel,” Lee told ABLJ.
When asked about plans for additional offices in South Korea and abroad, Lee said: “Our immediate priority is to successfully solidify the Gangbuk office while continuing to elevate our advisory capabilities.”
The Gangbuk office marks Yoon & Yang’s first domestic expansion since the firm was created through the 2003 merger of Yoon & Partners and Roh & Yang.
Beyond its locations in northern and southern Seoul, the firm maintains international offices in Tashkent and Jakarta, as well as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi through a strategic collaboration with VILAF.
According to South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, the firm employed 368 Korean-licensed lawyers as of August 2026.
