Sekisui Chemical Ausbuild Acquisition

Nishimura & Asahi has advised Japanese company Sekisui Chemical on acquiring a controlling stake in Queensland-based residential land developer and homebuilder Ausbuild through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sekisui Heim Australia AC.

Nikkei Asia said the deal would see Sekisui Chemical acquire a 51% stake in Ausbuild for AUD335 million (USD238 million).

Partners Takuya Matsuo, Tatsuya Nakayama and Akira Iizuka led the Nishimura & Asahi team and were supported by associate Takumi Ichikawa.

Sekisui Chemical, which has head offices in Tokyo and Osaka, operates the Sekisui Heim housing brand. Nikkei Asia reported the company plans to set up modular-construction facilities in Australia within three years, while housing construction contributes around 40% of Sekisui Chemical’s sales.

The transaction is scheduled to close in January 2027.
