Baker & McKenzie announced five new partners for its Hong Kong and mainland offices.
In Beijing, Liu Jinghua will focus on taxation while Andrew Sim will cover intellectual property (IP) law.
Liu heads the tax dispute resolution practice in China, and is experienced in M&A tax planning, turnover taxes, supply chain management, wealth planning, permanent establishment exposure and voluntary disclosures.
Sim’s practice covers IP enforcement and anti-piracy in the areas of trademarks, copyright, trade names, passing-off, unfair competition, designs, labelling laws, domain names, internet and technology laws.

In Hong Kong, Ruby Chan, Michael Horman and Edwin Li will focus on IP, M&A and corporate finance, respectively.
Chan has experience in the management and protection of regional and global trademark portfolios, covering commercial IP and contentious IP issues. Horman covers Hong Kong, China, outbound, regional and cross-border transactions. His practice includes joint ventures, establishment of investment and operational structures, distressed asset transactions and corporate reorganisations.
Li focuses on corporate finance and securities transactions, as well as M&A and private equity matters. His practice covers corporate restructurings, privatisations and listings, and he is experienced in corporate governance, securities regulatory and related advisory work.
