BLP has announced the appointment of several key new hires to boost capabilities in real estate, infrastructure and dispute resolution across its Asia offices.
In Hong Kong, Andrew MacGeoch joins from Mayer Brown JSM and will spearhead BLP’s Asia real estate and infrastructure practice in addition to the Global Hotels Group. MacGeoch has 25 years of experience in Asia and has represented developers, owners, institutional investors, governments and statutory corporations. Emily Wong (of counsel) has joined MacGeoch’s team adding her 10 years of experience in advising developers and PE funds primarily on their hospitality and leisure projects. Phill Smith also joins the real estate team as a senior consultant, specializing in advising trustees and managers of real estate investment trusts (REITs) with respect to acquisitions and disposals, financings and regulatory requirements.

In Singapore, Gavin Margetson joins from Herbert Smith Freehills and will lead BLP’s regional international arbitration hub in Singapore. In addition, James Clarke has relocated to Singapore from the firm’s London office.
Margetson has spent more than 13 years in Asia, with 10 years acting for a range of Japanese clients in Tokyo and three years acting for Japanese and international clients in Singapore. Clarke is a construction and engineering disputes specialist, and with Margetson will focus on servicing contractor and other projects, andalso infrastructure clients in the wider region.
