Kasmali joined from domestic firm Soemadipradja & Taher, where he was a partner. He is a mining, oil and gas specialist with more than 23 years of experience, and has advised on some of the biggest infrastructure and M&A projects in the country, representing global mining companies like Newmont and BHP.

David Gibbons, Hogan Lovells’ global head of corporate and finance, said Kasmali’s arrival represents the latest step in the firm’s plan for building out and strengthening its Indonesian practice, which is “an increasingly important and attractive region for corporate work, particularly in the global energy and resources sector”.
