Rahul Dutt, a former senior in-house counsel at Reliance Industries, has joined Khaitan & Co as a partner in its Mumbai office.
Dutt was with Reliance Industries for over 13 years and led several of Reliance Group’s complex mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactions across various sectors. Prior to this, he worked for a year with Michael Wilson & Partners in Kazakhstan.

Dutt said he had considered moving to a law firm for some time and felt Khaitan & Co was the natural choice. “Working at Reliance has been both professionally and personally a very enriching experience as I have had the opportunity to extensively work across the group’s various businesses, legal functions and projects,” he said. “I am very excited about this next phase of my professional career with a firm whose value systems and professionalism I greatly value.”
Dutt’s appointment takes the firm to a total of 101 partners and over 420 lawyers.
