Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy has hired Chen Li as of counsel in its Beijing office. Chen will play a lead role in the firm’s China corporate practice with a focus on cross-border M&A. She will work closely with managing partner Anthony Root, who is a member of China Business Law Journal’s editorial board.

Transactions Chen has worked on include Tengzhong’s attempted acquisition of Hummer from General Motors; China Mobile’s acquisition of Paktel; the merger of Siemens’ and Nokia’s businesses in China; 3Com’s joint venture with Huawei Technologies; the IPOs of China Netcom and Ping An Insurance; and China Aviation Industry Corporation’s acquisition of FACC, a company that specializes in the design and manufacture of composite components for aircraft.
Chen joins Milbank from Shearman & Sterling in Beijing.
