Dear Editor,
I read with interest the article regarding legal services and investment prospects in Kochi and Ernakulam titled Waiting for its moment, written by Rebecca Abraham in the October 2012 issue of India Business Law Journal.
I sincerely appreciate the efforts of India Business Law Journal in showcasing the legal market in Kerala and I am sure the same will encourage youngsters joining the profession to pursue their career in law in the state of Kerala.
Law firms constitute only a small percentage of the lawyers practising in Cochin and therefore projecting the few firms as prominent “law firms”, though with a caveat “this list is not exhaustive”, may not be a correct picture of the prominent lawyers in Kerala.

I beg to disagree with the conclusion of the report, which says, “with Kerala facing a long struggle to convince the rest of the country that it is open for business, the status quo looks set to continue”.
The quality and quantity of work is improving in leaps and bounds. Large law firms in India will be committing a big mistake if they neglect this growing market.
