AZB’s Joshi jumps ship

Abhijit Joshi, the CEO and a long-time partner of AZB & Partners, is to leave the firm on 15 November to set up his own venture.

Joshi joined AZB & Partners in 2001, prior to which he worked with Amarchand Mangaldas and Dua Associates. He became the CEO of the firm in 2011 managing its operations in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

He focuses on corporate and M&A matters and has worked on deals such as Reliance Industries’ US$7.2 billion stake sale to BP and Baring Private Equity Asia’s US$260 million investment in Lafarge India – both of which were among India Business Law Journal’s Deals of the Year.

“Abhijit has had a long innings with us and has been a valued member of our firm,” said managing partner Zia Mody. “He very much wants to pursue his own entrepreneurial path … We will miss him. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
