Jyoti Pawar, an in-house lawyer at Bharti Airtel, is to join Economic Laws Practice (ELP) in July or August as the head of its telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) practice in New Delhi.

Pawar began her career with Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt & Caroe and subsequently joined GE Capital India, where she spent eight years, eventually becoming general counsel. At Bharti Airtel, she has served as director of legal and regulatory for India and South Asia and a member of the management board.
ELP has advised Bharti Airtel on service tax matters in the past. It also recently advised Etisalat Mauritius in relation to the winding up of Etisalat DB Telecom, and represented Tata Communications, as part of a consortium, in the bid for the concession to develop an information and communications technology city proposed to be set up in Gujarat.
