Ronald Cheng began his career in the early 1990s as an associate with O’Melveny and then spent 20 years as a federal prosecutor, serving in a number of roles including legal adviser to the US Embassy in Beijing.

Cheng is one of just a few Putonghua-speaking lawyers experienced in both US and Chinese criminal law enforcement, and has been a key member of the Cybercrime and Intellectual Property Crimes Section at the US Attorney’s Office in California, where he focused on criminal activity arising from the Asia-Pacific region.

“He increases our ability to serve clients in matters involving US-Chinese law enforcement. He adds to our bench of seasoned, versatile southern California litigators, and he brings additional firepower to our global data privacy and cyber-security capabilities,” said the firm’s chairperson, Bradley Butwin.
